Intern reaches out at Student Success Center

The Student Success Center has a new intern who has been helping students all semester. Omar Syed, an intern from the School of Education works with international students on a daily basis to guide them through their coursework.

“I can help students understand the english words that make up what their textbooks are saying,” Syed said.

Syed works with international students, but he stresses that anyone is welcome to come see him or visit the Student Success Center. He wants students to understand what they are learning by breaking down what their professors are trying to say.

“We have a large population of students who can benefit from his help,” said Tim Richardson, director of student success center.

For students who might be interested in receiving some extra help or maybe just a little guidance, they can visit the Student Success Center’s webpage located on the UHCL website and request a tutor, they can specifically request for Syed if they would like.  Syed wants to help more students and encourage them to ask for help when they need it.

“I want to help people, I’ve been where they are now, scared to ask their professors for help,” Syed said.
