New Survey Determines Need for Onsite Childcare

Julie Smith with Women’s Services housed in the Office of Intercultural and International Student Services is currently looking into the possibility of having onsite childcare at UHCL.  Right now it’s just in the beginning stages of gathering information and finding out if there is a need for it.

As a way to gather information, Smith has created a survey. The type of information she is looking for includes: how many people would want to have an onsite childcare option, what type of facility would they want, and would they use it if it were an option?

Students are encouraged to go online and take this survey

Once she’s gathered information, she plans to present the survey results to university administrators and, if the need for a childcare center is supported, begin the process of attempting to get it approved.

The survey will collect data regarding whether or not you have children and at what ages.  The survey also wants to know whether you are a student, faculty member or staff member.  You will have the chance to give your input on whether you believe that having onsite childcare will be beneficial to UHCL or not.

The survey also wants to know how you would like to use the childcare service, as a curriculum based program or more of a babysitting program. It is looking for information regarding what time you’d be most likely to need the service.
