Another semester is coming to an end and with commencement around the corner, Dec. 15, graduation celebrations are soon to begin.

UHCL has always found a way to celebrate its students’ accomplishments including hosting events every semester in honor of its graduates.

This semester, what was formerly known as the Commencement Kick-Off will be replaced by the Soaring Hawk Celebration. The Soaring Hawk Celebration will take place Dec. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the UHCL Alumni Plaza.

The event will celebrate graduates’ accomplishments with music, activities, food, photographs and more.

UHCL will not only host this event to congratulate the newest graduates but to also welcome them into the UHCL Alumni Association.

Some of the informational booths that will be set up at the event include the UHCL Alumni Association, Career Services, Foreign Language Program, Center for Advanced Management Programs, Cultural Arts and Veteran Services.

All of these will have information to share with graduates about the various services they may utilize even after graduation.

Alumni, family and friends are also able to attend the event.

A photo opportunity with UHCL President William Staples, as well as the deans of the four schools and the provost, will be available for graduates.

A different time will be set for each school to attend the photo sessions.

Two complementary tickets will be available for each summer or fall 2013 graduate; however, additional tickets may be purchased for $5 each.

The tickets may be picked up or purchased at the Office of Student Life (SSCB 1.204) or the Office of Alumni and Community Relations (Bayou 1604). The tickets will be available until Dec. 12.

More information about the event can be found at www.uhcl.edu/soaringhawkscelebration.
