THE SIGNAL
The Student Government Association Executive Council for the 2014-15 academic year was announced this week after winning by a majority vote at the weekly SGA meeting Tuesday. The four new officers who will be installed at the Student Leadership Banquet Apr. 25 are:
President: Julie Garner
VP Committee Coordinator: Aaron Herridge
VP Outreach and Communication: Sonya E. Herridge
VP Administration: Kavitha Madhavarajan
The deadline for applications was noon on March 7, 2014 and elections took place during the March 18 SGA Meeting.
Accounting major Julie Garner was elected to the active executive council as Vice President-Outreach and Communication by a majority vote at the Feb. 4 SGA meeting after the position became vacant when art and design major Safyah Alam resigned last December.
Garner, the president-elect, will hold her current position until the Student Leadership Banquet when she will take on her new role. Garner is the only active member of the 2013-14 Executive Council that will be part of the succeeding team.
VP Committee Coordinator-elect Aaron Herridge will succeed legal studies major Kenneth Kettler. Herridge is a physics and environmental geology major expecting to graduate May 2015.
Succeeding Garner will be Sonya Herridge, a graduate humanities student and VP-Administration-elect Kavitha Madhavarajan will follow graduate computer science major Chaitanya Kala.
The four executive council positions are unpaid positions. The 2014-15 executive council will begin their one-year terms this April and will conclude at the 2015 Student Leadership Banquet.
