Bolivar Peninsula Chamber: “No oil in our beaches, Ferry running 24/7”

The Bolivar Peninsula Chamber of Commerce’s communications office released a press release yesterday denying media reports that stated the oil spill had crossed over to the peninsula’s beaches. The statement is the following:

“There is no oil on the Bolivar Peninsula beaches and none is expected from the recent oil spill in Texas City, Texas. Some media outlets have indicated that there is oil from the oil spill on the peninsula beaches and that is not correct.  The oil drifted south of Galveston from Texas City.

The ferry system that runs from Galveston to the Bolivar Peninsula is now  running its normal schedule of 24 hours service. All of the normal business activities on the 33 miles of the Bolivar Peninsula are in operation. ”

“We invite you all to come and visit our peninsula and enjoy the good food and the fine beaches,“ said Mac McDonald, President of the Bolivar Peninsula Chamber of Commerce
