PUBLIC NOTICE: UHCL Police Department accreditation update

UHCL Police Department is scheduled to have an on-site assessment to attain National law enforcement accreditation. The accreditation program, administered by the Commission of Accreditation Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), will focus on four primary areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and supportive services. CALEA will send a team of assessors to UHCL campus to evaluate UHCL Police Department compliance.

There will be a public hearing Monday, Sept 30 at 4:30 p.m. in the Garden Room in the Bayou Building. Community members and agency employees are invited to express their comments to the assessment team. To offer comments via phone, please call 281-283-2113 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sept 30. Comments of any kind are limited to 10 minutes and must focus on the UHCL PD’s compliance with CALEA’s standards. A copy of the standards is available at the UHCL Police Department Business Office located at 1636 Bayou Building.
