‘Return to Homs’ documentary

Joshua Landis, renowned Syrian conflict expert, will discuss the documentary after the showing.

This documentary follows Abdul Basset al-Saroot, charismatic goalkeeper for the national Syrian soccer team, and his friend and video journalist Ossama Al Homsi. From 2011 to 2013, Saroot enhances his status as an icon by singing revolutionary songs and even joins the rebel militia to bring down the Assad regime. The film won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.
