Random driving thoughts of an OCD personality

mixed_signals

I think about so many things while I am driving. Don’t we all?

Usually it begins as I am leaving my house. I always wonder, “Did I make sure to lock the front door?” Even though I am notorious for jiggling the door handle and going through the motions of pretending that I am trying to open the door. I always do the same thing at least three times prior to getting inside of my car. Then, I wonder if it is really locked or not. I just love my crazy OCD tendencies.

Next, I question if I made sure to unplug my hair straightener and the coffee maker. If I have the slightest doubt I will end up going back inside to confirm they are both unplugged. One time, I actually drove all the way to La Marque and decided to turn back around because I was afraid that I left my dog outside. He wasn’t. I sometimes wonder how I even make it out of my own driveway.

Usually while I am driving is when all the obsessive thoughts about my assignments begin to flood my brain. I question, “Did I turn that assignment in already?” Then, I wonder if it was good enough.

The other day I was leaving my neighborhood when I noticed a sign posted in front of one of my neighbor’s house that advertised that they were selling custom-made sports jewelry. However, I noticed as I was driving by that they had misspelled something. Oh, that drives me nuts! I just want to pull over and inform them that they need to correct the spelling of the word that they misspelled. Is anyone out there just as OCD and neurotic as I am?
