Did you know??… Well, now you do.

As a current student at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, I am eager to find new things that are happening on campus, especially services that are offered. I like to take advantage of what is out there, not only to help me in my academic path, but also to give me a little bit of comfort in being a student. I am pretty sure that, like me, other students want to know what kind of free services are available as part of their student services fees. So, to make things easier, I have discovered an initial Did You Know Fact that will benefit you! This is the first blog post of many more throughout the semester!

Did you know that the Student Success Center offers an Academic Coaching Program that gives you the opportunity to work with an academic coach personally in skill areas that you might need a little help? Students have the opportunity to meet with an academic coach once a week to develop public speaking skills, test-taking strategies, critical thinking skills, note-taking, academic reading speed and strategies, and organization and time/task management.

You can request an academic coach by visiting the Student Success Center website at http://prtl.uhcl.edu/portal/page/portal/SSC/SSC_Home  and completing a very brief form. Within two days, the Student Success Center will call to set up a 15-minute appointment with a learning specialist to discuss your learning style, schedule and needs, and get matched up with an academic coach.
