‘Suicide Squad’ trailer riddled with unanswered questions

This week, I spent a few of my nights watching, then re-watching, the new “Suicide Squad” trailer.

Since the recent release of the new “Suicide Squad” trailer, there are so many questions left unanswered. The biggest one of all being: Who is the big bad of the movie? Who is so evil that A.R.G.U.S.  could only call upon a crew of the world’s most sinister criminals to fight against them? Personally, I think the villain- I mean, more villainous villain – is Enchantress. From what I’ve seen in the trailer, it doesn’t look like she has been in the same setting as the rest of the squad and I’m thinking it could be an origin story for her. This could be where her powers manifest and the only people who can stop her are a team of psychopaths. At one point in the trailer we see Enchantress in what looks like the White House (see photo to the left). We can only assume that she was not invited there for afternoon tea.

Another question that still remains unanswered is: Who is Scott Eastwood’s character? On IMDB.com, Eastwood is top-billed yet his character’s name is unknown. There were rumors that he would be Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman’s love interest, but we know that role has been scooped up by the one-and-only Chris Pine. Since all of the DC Universe movies are connected, this theory is out of the question. Another theory is that he is Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke. I think this is highly-likely since the only footage we have seen of Eastwood are of him in a military setting and, prior to becoming Deathstroke, Wilson was in the U.S. Army. If this is true, I don’t understand why they would keep Deathstroke a secret.

There is the argument of Robin aka Jason Todd having a presence in the story line and if so, how this would be incorporated. This idea has been floating around the internet since the topic was broached in the videogame “Batman: Arkham Knight.” In the “Batman v Superman” trailer, we saw Robin’s suit with a certain clown prince’s handiwork all over it, which leads the audience to believe the story of Jason Todd has already occurred. This also follows with the believed plotline of the guilt-ridden Batman who has given up fighting crime as we have seen in the trailers.

There is seriously so much more I could mention about this movie including that Luthor is supposed to have a hand in the madness in “Suicide Squad” and Joker is rumored to make a big escape which leads to “Batman v Superman” but I think I have officially theorized myself out for the night. I’m just going to leave this trailer here so you can come up with your own theories.

I hope that they keep this movie as its own thing. If they make it too heavy in The Joker, Batman, Jason Todd, and anyone else that is not in the squad than that could take away from the development and celebrated awesomeness that is the Suicide Squad. I am really curious on how they will use Leto, but It still shouldn’t take away from Deadshot, Harley, etc too much.
As per the Batman v. Superman , I hope that they stick close to the other film adaptation (animated.) They won’t, but it is far underrated and deserves as much commercial success as the live actions films.
