Fencing Demonstration with Olympians Courtney Hurley and Kelley Hurley
Wednesday, March 30, 6:307:30 p.m.

Presented in conjunction with the current exhibition, “Change of Engagement: The Photography of Serge Timacheff,” Olympians Courtney and Kelley Hurley will give a talk and demonstration of fencing concepts. This program will be located in the UHCL Art Gallery and free parking will be available in the Visitor Lot or Student Lot D. The talk and demo will conclude with a reception with light bites served.

The siblings have topped the women’s epee rankings for nearly a decade and helped lead the U.S. to bronze – the first U.S. Women’s Epee Team to ever win a medal – at the London 2012 Olympics. The Texas natives also recently qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympics. Courtney and Kelley Hurley now train at Alliance Fencing Academy in Houston, and both are graduates of the University of Notre Dame.

“Change of Engagement” is on view in the UHCL Art Gallery through March 31. Timacheff, a 1985 graduate of UHCL, has been the official photographer for the International Fencing Federation for more than a decade. Of the millions of pictures he’s take over his career, nearly 30 have been curated for the exhibition, which is also his first solo gallery showing.
