Blast from the past with ‘Fuller House’

I have not done my homework this week because it is spring break and what better way to spend the break than by having a “Fuller House” marathon. “Fuller House” is the continuation to the popular ’90s TV show “Full House.” Set 25 years after the end of the original show, this American sitcom managed to bring me nostalgia, laughter, and tears. Why do so many people enjoy watching old TV shows be remade into modern continuations?

It seems that society has a craving for the past. Nobody wants to let go of the past and this is the same when it comes to TV shows. When a show is over, the viewers want more! There are unanswered questions such as: What will happen once they grow up? Will they ever get married? What happens to so and so? The producers and writers have to pay close attention to this when revamping these old shows.

One of the reasons the returning shows are so popular is because they had such an influence on popular culture. Many ’90s and ’80s teens grew up with shows like “Full House” and “Boy Meets World.” These shows had a huge impact on young adults of that time and taught them many life lessons. Many of the original viewers have expanded the show’s audience by showing it to their children or siblings.

As soon as people found out about “Fuller House,” they went insane over it. The hype these remakes cause is extremely impressive. The trailers “Fuller House” advertised on Facebook caused my news feed page to blow up. Everywhere I turned there would be some kind of advertisement for the show. They even had their own segment on the “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

“Fuller House” isn’t the only show that has been resurrected. Shows like “Boy Meets World” and “Zoey 101” have also received a bit more closure by getting modern remakes. “Girl Meets World” is actually a continuation to “Boy Meets World” which focuses on Cory Mathews’ younger daughter, Riley. The show teaches her, along with the viewers, many life lessons throughout the show, like “Boy Meets World” did in the ’90s. I would know this because I am an avid fan of the show. Don’t judge. “Zoey 101” received an online video which showcased Chase Matthews opening up the time capsule that was buried in Pacific Coast Academy 10 years prior to 2015.

It was nice to see all the old characters from the original “Full House” reprise their roles in the sequel, “Fuller House.” Of course there are a ton of new characters, but I have to say my favorite has got to be DJ Fuller’s middle son, Max. Holy chalupas is he adorable! “Fuller House” is available to stream only on Netflix.

Well I’m not to sure what else I’ll be doing for my break since I have binge watched all of season one of “Fuller House” already, but I know it won’t be homework. I would love to see a sequel to my favorite ’90s show “Sister Sister” or even “Lizzie McGuire.” Ah, one can only dream.
