UHCL ‘Success Through Education Programs’ kicks off Spring 2017 semester

University of Houston-Clear Lake’s College of Education held its Success Through Education Programs, or STEP, Spring 2017 Kickoff Luncheon in late January. STEP is a collaborative effort between UH-Clear Lake, five area school districts, and four community colleges designed to create opportunities for students to explore teaching as a profession and to prepare them to become certified teachers. The spring kickoff event gives STEP students an opportunity to get acquainted with each other, meet faculty and staff, and to receive tips for academic success. UHCL alumna Christina Munselle, a third-grade teacher at Armand Bayou Elementary School, presented the keynote address, “Reflections from a New Teacher.” Munselle shared her experience with the future educators stressing the importance of taking the time to build relationships with the children.
