Battle of the sexes: Who has it harder?

Who has a harder life: girls or guys? The word ‘feminism’ can be seen almost everywhere you look these days. Models walked down the runway during New York Fashion Week with feminist slogans on their shirts. People from all over the world gathered together for the Women’s Marches and almost every female celebrity has defended their reasoning behind why she is or is not a feminist. But, what about the guys; what kind of problems do they face on a daily basis?

Before we talk about guy’s problems, let’s remember: ladies first. Girls have to deal with cat-calling, periods, menopause, waking up early to put on makeup, straighteners and curling irons – ask a girl how many times she fried her hair or accidently burned herself, and she will probably tell you a number greater than three. Girls always have to be on their best behavior in order to be seen as a lady, whereas guys can run around and have fun, because ‘boys will be boys.’ Girls are paid less than guys, but they are charged more for razors, haircuts, clothes and, they have to deal with the pink tax on tampons and pads. Girls also have to deal with people constantly asking them when they are going to have children; and also, of course, childbirth.

Guys have to deal with boners. They can’t flirt or cry their way out of speeding tickets. Guys are not allowed to cry because it shows weakness, so they are forced to go to the gym. They also have to post a picture of them in the gym each time in order for people to believe them. Even though guys do get paid more, they are usually expected to pay for the bill when they go on dates. Unlike girls, guys can’t say what they find attractive; they can’t say they only like redheads without receiving backlash. If a guy doesn’t like another guy, they have to fight each other. Guys don’t get experience gossiping or sneaking around trying to ruin someone’s life. Bathroom lines for guys are usually very short or nonexistent, so they don’t get to make friends like girls do while they’re waiting in line, and they also can’t compliment a random guy’s shirt or shoes and take selfies.

Guys and girls have different problems that they have to deal with each day. When comparing the two, it becomes obvious that guys have it harder in life than girls. We should all take into consideration and keep in mind that guys have it way worse than girls.

In addition to all these problems that guys have, they are also living in a confusing time period. Guys are confused on how to treat girls. Some girls want to be treated as a full equal to guys and don’t want guys to open doors for them or pay for the date. However, there are girls who do want to the guy to step up and open all the doors and pay for each date.

Another thing that confuses guys is erections. Some girls want a “perfect gentleman” who waits until marriage to have sex. So, guys have to dial down their desires to appear like prince charming. But, there is also Viagra, which tells guys to keep having sex no matter their age.

Clearly, guys have it worse. They must have a headache each day thinking about all the things they can’t do and how to treat a lady.
