2017 Gulf Coast Film and Video Festival winners announced

The 2017 Gulf Coast Film & Video Festival took place Sept. 29-30 at the Nassau Bay Hilton. The winners of the 19th annual awards were announced at the Awards and Dinner Presentation Gala at Lakewood Yacht Club and are as follows:

  • Best of Festival: “Rocket” directed by Brenna Malloy
  • Best Mini Feature: “Icarus” directed by Tom Teller
  • Best Webisode: “If I Could Bark” directed by Shawn Welling
  • Best Comedy/Horror: “The Witching Hour” directed by Riley Geis
  • Best Drone: “The Gold Line” directed by Lance Childers
  • Best Documentary: “Gardeners of the Forest” directed by Ceylan Carhoglu
  • Best Drama: “The Lawn Boy” directed by Mark Baird
  • Best Feature: “The Neighborhood That Disappeared” directed by Mary Paley
  • Best Screenplay: “Third Base” written by screenwriter Katt Gilcrease

 

The festival, established in 1998, showcases independent films from local, regional and international filmmakers. The films vary in length from short films to full-length features and cover a variety of genres and categories. The festival is known for attracting artists and filmmakers to the Clear Lake area.
