UHCL President visits NASA to discuss future opportunities for collaboration

University of Houston-Clear Lake President Ira K. Blake gazes down at the activity in the International Space Station Flight Control Room as she learns more about the movements of the ISS and the data monitored from the NASA facility from Kam Lulla, director of the university collaboration and partnership office. President Blake visited NASA facilities in early December to connect with officials about future opportunities for collaboration with the university.

JSC Center Director Ellen Ochoa and Director of the University Collaboration and Partnership Office Kam Lulla stand inside the tight area of a space shuttle Crew Compartment Trainer as they explain to President Ira K. Blake the concept and use of a safety mechanism used to protect astronauts during a shuttle flight. The tour was part of President Blake’s tour of NASA Johnson Space Center in early December.

As part of her visit to NASA Johnson Space Center, President Ira K. Blake meets with a group of UH-Clear Lake alumni who now work at the facilities, including 2016 Distinguished Alumna Evelyn Miralles ’92 BA, ’12 MBA. The group also included current students and adjunct faculty members of the university.
