Believe me, I am doing just that!! I am the same way (as far as obtaining the degree while still pursuing that dream). Ashley, this column was not only inspirational but motivational as well. One cannot lose hope and must be determined and tenacious if they want to fulfill that dream. Let this article stand as an example to the mass group of people who are pursuing that certain dream but needs words of wisdom. Everyone, you CAN do it, no matter who you are!!

First off, I'm happy to see the constitution still being recognized and followed per the court ruling. Second, regardless of whether the tobacco co. print the pictures or not, as a past smoker for some 15 plus yrs, If I'm going to smoke because I want and like to, I will, despite any picture on the box.

So what next, pictures of dead bodies or cirrhosis’ liver on a can of beer or whisky bottle? Will not stop those who choose to drink.

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather people choose not to smoke, as well as drink responsibly (those who do not) as I have a problem w/ my money going to pay for treating those who choose to abuse their bodies who cannot afford to pay for their own healthcare.

I don't think that the author of this story was trying to say that athiests are, as a whole, caught in the rut of thinking this world is a dark, joyless place. However, if you listen to Bazan's music, it is obvious that he himself views the world in this capacity to some extent because that is what he writes about.

Bazan sings of his lover cheating on him, Christians being fake (which isn't always untrue), and a lot of other inner struggles he has dealt with. But I doubt that he walks around with a cloud over his head because he doesn't believe in God. Moreover, I doubt the author of this story thinks that either. Afterall, they are both wearing very huge, genuine smiles in that picture, which leads me to believe they were happy to put aside their differences and enjoy each other's company.

Not all Christians believe that athiests are horrible depressed people that can't enjoy the world. In fact, most don't. You may believe he is wrong about atheists, but I would also argue that you are wrong about Christians as well.
