Nov. 19 – Gizmo Guys perform at UHCL

If you’re looking for family fun this weekend then check out the Gizmo Guys at 7 p.m. Saturday Nov. 19 in UHCL’s Bayou Theater. Juggler comedians Barret Felker and Allan Jacobs have been performed together since 1987, and have made appearances on HBO, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central. Pre-sale tickets are available for $10 for general admission and $6 if you have your UHCL ID. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door for $12 for general admission and $8 with your UHCL ID. Nov.7- V-Day Bake Sale and Bath Basket Raffle

Stop by Atrium 1 today from 11am-7pm to get some baked goods and don’t forget to buy raffle tickets for a basket full of bath products! The basket contains, bath salts, shower gel, fancy soap and much more! Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Julie Smith, Coordinator Women’s LGBT Services, will email the winner of the basket early tomorrow morning to pick up their prize!

Nov. 9 – Breaking Borders: A Women’s Discussion

All female students are encouraged to attend an exciting and thought provoking conversation about “How Do Men See You?”. A roundtable discussion focusing on traditional and non-traditional cultural values of how women are viewed men and the effects of those views. The discussion will allow participants the opportunity to share their own experiences and learn from the experiences of others. 15th Annual UHCL Student Leadership Conference

The UHCL Student Leadership Conference is embarking on its 15th year and encouraging attendees to “Step Up and Be The One.” The conference is taking place this Saturday, Nov. 5 with a day filled with engaging speakers and exciting leadership workshops. Spring 2012 O Leader Applications Available Now!

Any UHCL students looking to get involved on campus and gain valuable leadership skills can now apply to be O Leaders. O Leaders will gain valuable leadership skills throughout trainings and on the day of NSO. Studnts will have the opportunity to meet new and current UHCL students they might not have otherwise met.

Applications can be found on www.uhcl.edu/newstudentorientation or by stopping by the Student life Office -SSCB 1.204. Applications are due by Monday, Dec. 12 and students must be available for the following the following time frames:

- Wednesday, January. 11; 4-7pm O Leader Training

- Friday, January 13; 1-4pm O Leader Training

- Saturday, January 14; 7:30am-4:30pm NSO

- OPTIONAL: Thursday, January 12; 3:30- 9pm Pearland

SSA Nook Raffle

The UHCL Support Staff Association is raffling off a Nook to benefit the assocation. The SSA will be in Atrium 1 of the Bayou Building Oct. 25 from 5-7 p.m. Tickets are 1 for $1 and 6 for $5. They also have tickets for sale every Friday at the Breakfast Table. Tickets are on sale every day in the purchasing office with Alicia Gookin, in the cashier’s office with Aditra DeRouchie, in central plant office with Diana Hustedt, in the NOA building with Candy Allison, and on the Pearland Campus with Janelle Frazier. Tickets are 1 for $1 and 6 for $5.

Oct. 25- UHCL Copy Center Open House

Visit the Copy Center on campus and take a tour to find out where you can get all your printing and copying needs! All UHCL students are welcome to enjoy refreshment and popcorn. There’s also a door prize to sign up for. Going on today from 8am-5pm in Room 2403 of the Bayou building.

Oct.29- Indian Students Association: Diwali 2011

UHCL Indian Students Association (ISA) is celebrating one of the most widely celebrated events across India- Diwali. Everyone is invited on Oct. 29 at 7pm in Atrium II of the Bayou Building to enjoy the festivities and flavor of the Indian culture. Music, performances and Indian cuisine will be just a few of the things people will get to take delight in and experience. The event is free to the entire UHCL community!

Oct. 27-2nd Annual Global Interfaith Dialogue Event

CASA and MSA invite everyone to an event that aims to promote commonalities over differences through a facilitated dialogue in shared space between people of different cultural backgrounds in the greater Bay Area community.

On Thursday Oct. 27 from 11 am – 4 pm, there will be several dialogue roundtables that will explore diverse topics focusing on interfaith dialogue. All dialogues will be facilitated by UHCL faculty and students who have had training in promoting honest discussions in diverse groups. Participation at the dialogue tables will be on a come and go basis in order to accommodate those who have busy schedules.

CASSA will also be taking donations for the Save A Child fundraiser benefiting Doctors Without Borders efforts on the ground in Somalia.
