The Houston area chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) has entered into a five-year commitment to provide scholarship funding to the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL).

The ACFE is an organization dedicated to training those who wish to become fraud examiners. The Houston area chapter provided resources to future fraud examiners through speakers, resume reviews, resume blasts and scholarships.

UHCL scholarship funding was approved in March 2018, along with funding for the University of Houston (UH) and Sam Houston State University. An endowed scholarship was created at UH in honor of Robert Barr, a Houston Area ACFE member and an adjunct faculty member at the UH’s C. T. Bauer College of Business for over 35 years.

The announcement of the scholarships took place at the Hess Club on June 12, with Associate Professor of Accounting Constance Lehmann as the keynote speaker.
