The musical is unique in that there are showcase moments for each female dancer and comedic actor. “Forum” has been described by critics as a “bawdy, wild comedy” in which Pseudolus, a crafty slave, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan named Philia, for his young master, Hero, in exchange for freedom. Set in ancient Rome, the plot twists and turns with cases of mistaken identity, slamming doors, and a showgirl or two.  This musical comedy is rated PG13.
The musical’s original 1962 Broadway run won several Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Author (Musical), and was a vehicle written for comedy legend Zero Mostel.   The show enjoyed several Broadway and West End revivals and was made into a successful film in 1966.
A 1972 Broadway revival of the show won two Tony Awards. The musical was revived again on Broadway in 1996 staring modern comedy legend Nathan Lang and had great success, winning another Tony Award, and closing after 715 performances.
