Let’s get techy with the iPhone 6S
I have not done my homework this week because I was waiting in line for the release of the new iPhone 6S; the iPhone that everyone freaks out about and goes to the extreme to get their hands on it. Apple has always made people want to buy their products, and they were able to hook me on their fishing line and reel me in this time.
This year’s iPhone is an S model, which simply means the phone has changed internally, the physical appearance of the device has not changed. With new features such as 3D touch, an improved camera and faster internal machinery we can rest assured that Apple has done it again.
3D touch may seem like an odd concept to understand. The iPhone 6S has three main points of pressure: a tap, a light press and a deeper press. The screen does different actions when used with different pressure. When I first heard of 3D touch I thought, “Is that even possible?” Later on, we are going to be able to reach into our screens and pet that cute puppy we see on YouTube. This is the first step to what could revolutionize the smartphone industry. It literally feels like the screen goes is in 3 dimensions.
The iPhone 6S’ camera has been upgraded to a 12 megapixel sensor and is able to capture 4K video! 4K video in a nutshell is the average 1080p HD display, but with four times the resolution. It is incredible for a phone to have that much power. I remember using the old point-and-shoot digital cameras, but as smartphones get more advanced actual cameras seem to become obsolete. The last difference is that Apple has changed the way photos are taken. Live Photos capture one second before and one second after the picture is taken. The picture is still a picture, but if you use 3D touch when looking at the photograph you can see it come to life with snippets of the audio as well. It’s something you have to experience firsthand to get your mind around it.
Apple seems to keep advancing with technology. Just when we think smartphones can’t get any smarter they achieve what we couldn’t believe would be possible. What a great way to not do homework this week!
