The Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR, powered by Oculus, are both readily available to the consumer market. The Oculus Rift can be used with Microsoft’s Xbox system to play virtual reality games. The Samsung Gear VR allows users with Samsung Galaxy Smartphones a look into the virtual reality experience at an affordable price. All users have to do is insert their Galaxy Smartphone into the Gear VR goggles and immerse themselves into a virtual world.

HTC also has a virtual reality headset readily available called the Vive. The system provides precision motion tracking and full immersion when the headset is adjusted and fitted correctly.

Sony has a virtual reality headset hitting the market this October. The Sony PlayStation VR is plug and play with the PlayStation 4 system. There are some additional accessories needed to run their VR system, but once all the hardware is acquired, gamers can experience a whole new perspective when tuning in.

Google Cardboard is a simple and inexpensive way to experience virtual reality. The Google Cardboard virtual reality goggles supports most iOS and Android phones. It is easy to assemble and there are a number of apps available that can be used with the system.
