The Quebe Sisters to bring triple fiddles to the Bayou Theater

They say good things come in threes, and when it comes to The Quebe Sisters, a harmonic performance turns into much more than just good.

Raised in the suburban town of Burleson, Texas, The Quebe Sisters, — Hulda, Sophia and Grace Quebe — are an authentic, all-Americana band playing triple fiddles in the style of western swing and singing close harmonies.

“We combine different styles of music with different instruments – jazz, folk, Western, country, swing,” explained Sophia Quebe, the eldest of the sisters.

It all began in 1998 when the three attended their first fiddle competition in the small town of Denton, Texas.

“We loved music and all played the fiddle since we were young,” Sophia said. “We had been playing separately when a professor asked us if we wanted to play a couple of songs together. We’ve been doing it since. We began practicing together, studying together and going to contests together. Sharing the stage with my sisters is great.”

After more than a decade of traveling the world, there is one specific thing that inspires them to keep performing.

“When people come to our show, we want to create a connection,” Sophia said. “We want them to feel our music and really touch on their emotions.”

So far, the sisters have shared the stage with music icons such as Willie Nelson, George Strait, Merle Haggard, Connie Smith, Ray Price, Marty Stuart and many others.

“Many artists think touring is overwhelming, but I love going on tour,” Sophia said. “We get to see the different cultures, different audiences, and most importantly, we get to try all the different foods.”

With three albums already released, The Quebe Sisters went from a young group of teenage fiddlers to a world-renounced, all-Americana band.

“What I love the most about being on stage is to see us all playing together,” Sophia said. “Everybody in the band works so hard and it really shows off. We’re a team.”

The Quebe Sisters are excited to perform in their hometown.

“We are looking forward to bringing our Texas-flavored Americana music to Houston on Valentine’s Day,” said Hulda Quebe. “We love playing in our home state, and this show is especially fun for us because we have a lot of family in Houston and we are looking forward to having them there.”
